A Garden City man was charged with the murder of a Colby woman Monday.
William Andrew Shank, 24, Garden City, was formally charged in Thomas County District Court, in connection with the Feb. 9 death of 27-year-old Teri L. Morris of Colby.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt filed charges Monday, alleging Shank committed first-degree murder, aggravated arson and aggravated burglary.
Shank was arrested Feb. 10 near Logan in Phillips County and is currently being held in the Thomas County Jail on a $1 million bond.
His first appearance before Judge Glenn Schiffner of the Kansas 15th Judicial District is set for 10 a.m. today.
Law enforcement officials are referring media questions to the Kansas Attorney General's office, which currently isn't providing any additional comments.
