A Garden City man is wanted on allegations of rape, three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Elias Talavera, 57, is being sought by the Garden City Police Department on a warrant for the charges.
The GCPD is requesting information from the public to help locate Talavera, who law enforcement believes may have fled Garden City after learning of the investigation.
"The warrant stems from an investigation we began on Nov. 28, when we were called to the Finney County Health Department in regards to a 10-year-old girl that had been sexually abused. The alleged acts have occurred over the course of several years," Garden City police Sgt. Michael Reagle said. "We believe Talavera became aware of the investigation and is attempting to avoid contact with us, and may have fled from Garden City to an unknown location."
Talavera was last known to be driving a gray 1997 Chevy pickup with a camper shell and Kansas license plate number PSI 754.
Talavera is 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.
If anyone has any information about Talavera, they are encouraged to call the Garden City Police Department at 276-1300. If they wish to remain anonymous, they can call Crime Stoppers at 275-7807, or text GCTIP and their tip to 847411 (tip411).
