By The Telegram

A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint Saturday, after being called to a Garden City neighborhood on a delivery order.

According to a press release from the Garden City Police Department, Police responded to the 400 block of Washington Street on at about 10:36 p.m. Saturday for a reported robbery.

The preliminary investigation determined that someone called Pizza Hut and ordered a pizza to be delivered to a residence in the neighborhood. When the driver arrived, he was confronted by a man armed with a handgun, who demanded money from him. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the driver, the suspect fled the area.

Garden City police Sgt. Michael Reagle said police believe the suspect called in the pizza order in order to lure the driver to the area.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male in his mid- to late-20s, about 5-foot-6 and weighing about 160 pounds. He was described as wearing a black, zippered, hooded jacket with the hood pulled over his head.

The incident is still under investigation.
