GCHS students make honor band

Garden City High School band audition CDs were judged Sept. 28 for the Kansas Music Educators Association for the Southwest District Honor Band.

There were 22 auditions from Garden City, with eight students being accepted to perform with the band in Dodge City on Nov. 9. The students who were selected are: Avery Turner, lead alto saxophone; Maggie Unruh, second tenor saxophone; Caleb Rude, second trumpet; Steven Dennis,

fourth trumpet; Noah Rude, second trombone; Zach George, fourth trombone; Danny Whited, bass trombone; and Curtis Wedel, upright bass.

Four students were selected as alternates. Should a student from the band not be able to attend, they are the first called to fill in the open position. They include: Karina Ortega, alto saxophone; Tara Holmes, tenor saxophone; Reagan Swank, baritone saxophone; and Kyle Ochampaugh, trumpet.
