Senior center pitch

Maybelle Bowen won high in the three tables of senior center pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Jerry Wallace and Elvin Hazen tied for second place. John Bunnell placed third.

Sherlock Strivers 4-H

Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met May 4 at Holcomb Elementary School with 19 members answering roll call. Kaitlynn Hammond gave a parliamentary tip. She and Morgan Hammond gave a project talk on cooking "Dirt Worm Snacks." Lauren Jones gave a project talk on clipping and showing goats.

The club potted flowers to be delivered to Mosaic for May's Random Act of Kindness project.

Leader Stephanie Hammond reminded members about registering for camp and volunteering as a fair superintendent.

The June 1 meeting was cut short due to severe weather. Members were reminded about deadlines for county and state fair projects.

The next meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at Adison and Kayla George's house for a barbecue and to complete club projects for the fair.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club had seven pairs competing Sunday in a regular 28-board Howell movement. Games were at an ebb with only 15 bid and made, one-third in no-trump, while a single slam came through.

First place was claimed by Virginia Enslow and Shirley Klotz with a 60 percent game. Second place went to Jon Kempton and Irene Bryant, just one point ahead of Mark and Jody Neuman in third.

The regular game Monday evening also played 28 boards but produced 35 games and two of five slams succeeded. Wen Wurst and Jon Craig were first with a 58 percent game while Bryant and Klotz were second, with Linda Adams and Helen Lee holding third.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Kempton at 276-2876.
