Phi Sigma Alpha

Phi Sigma Alpha sorority members met March 13 at the home of Ellen Eichhorn, with Marilyn Wadel as co-hostess. The evening began with a program presented by Samantha Wadel on the facial care product Nerium.

The guest for the evening was Judy Martin. Ten members answered roll call by telling the name of an Irish relative.

During the business meeting, the minutes of Feb. 13 were approved as amended, and it was reported that the sorority treasury has a balance of $194.35. The Garden City High School choir was given $25 for providing entertainment at the February meeting.

Since the discussion on gift giving was not voted on at the last meeting, members plan to consider the option for a month and then vote. A discussion was held about secret sister gift giving. Beginning with the next year of meetings, members decided that gifts will be given at Christmas, birthdays and at reveal time, and not passing the hat at meetings.

Norma Nolte, Eichhorn and Nancy Garhart were appointed as the nominating committee to select the slate of officers for the upcoming year.

Eichhorn was recognized for having a March birthday. She read an article on The Ides of March.

Refreshments and exchange of secret sister gifts concluded the evening.

The next meeting will be a game night April 10 at Church of Christ in Lakin. Members will meet at the home of Joanne Harder at 6 p.m. and carpool to Lakin. Sandwiches will be purchased and brought along for the evening meal, along with snacks and drinks provided by the hostess Margie McLain and co-hostess Sue Shipley.
