Activities abound

Save these dates:

* Saturday is the 46th annual Finney County Senior Citizens Association Bazaar. Join us between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for crafts, gifts, food, lunch and much more. This annual event is the major fundraiser for this support group of the senior center.

* Do you remember the Dust Bowl days? Did your parents tell you tales of the Dust Bowl? Ken Burns of PBS fame has made a new film titled "The Dust Bowl." An advance copy has been made available and will be shown in two parts on Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The film will be shown at the Finney County Historical Museum. Join us for the film and discussion. Bring your photographs. Hear stories. Taste some Depression-era food.

* Medicare open enrollment began on Monday and will continue until Friday, Dec. 7. This is the only time during the year when most people can change prescription drug plans or advantage plans. The prescription drug program known as Medicare Part D provides coverage for the purchase of prescription oral medication, inhalers, insulin and some topical medications. You choose your insurance plan based on your particular prescription medications. The medicare.gov website is a valuable tool in determining the best plan for you. Go to the website and do your research or call 272-3620 to schedule an appointment with a trained Senior Health Insurance Counselor of Kansas (SHICK). Appointments are required.
