Phi Sigma Alpha

Phi Sigma Alpha sorority met Sept. 11 at the home of Hazel Jones. A covered dish meal and fellowship preceded the formal meeting. Eleven members answered roll call by telling what they like about fall.

Dues of $2 monthly were collected, plus birthday money for the upcoming year. MaNon Evans and Sandy Rodgers celebrated birthdays in the summer. Ellen Eichhorn provided a devotional on prayer. The Secret Sister gift exchange and refreshments completed the evening. The next meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Joanne Harder's home,

Senior center bridge

Grace Reimer won high in the two tables of senior center bridge played Friday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Pat Bird took second place. Third went to Betty Nally. In the two tables played Sept. 20, J.D. Farr won high, Rusty Farr was second, and Ducky Tricks took third.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club had a regular session Sept. 22 where suit and no-trump games tied with 10 each, while one of four slams were made. Jon Kempton and Irene Bryant won with a 63 percent game, while a 53 percent game put Donna and Roger Morris in second place. In the Sept. 23 session, seven pairs played a 28-board Howell movement. Suit games outpaced no-trump 18 to 11 and of seven slams bid just two succeeded. First place went to Janet Jenkins and Bryant, while Diane Woolwine and Shirley Klotz took second, one point ahead of Wen Wurst and Jon Craig in third.

Tuesday's session had a special on hearts as 26 total games were made. Roger Morris and Dorothy Bartlett took first place, just ahead of Jenkins and Bryant. Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome.
