Lois Kerr to celebrate 95th

Lois Kerr will celebrate her 95th birthday with a come-and-go reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gray County over 50 Center in Cimarron.

She was born Sept. 10, 1918.

Tony Bartkoski to celebrate 90th

The family of Tony Bartkoski invites friends to join in on a "surprise" card shower for Tony, who turns 90 on Sept. 2. Birthday wishes and fond memories may be sent to Tony at 312 S. Seventh St., Seneca, KS 66538.

A former Garden City resident, Tony worked for many years in elevator and grain merchandising. He and his wife, Marge, have two children, Bob Bartkoski and Cathy Nagel.

Senior center pinochle

Donna Preston won high in the four tables of senior center pinochle played Wednesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Peggy Phipps. Betty Schreibvogel took third.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club's session Aug. 18 produced 18 games and three slams. Virginia Enslow and Shirley Klotz won first place with a 67 percent game. Therin and Diane Woolwine tied for second place with Dorothy Bartlett and Janet Jenkins.

The regular session Aug. 19 produced more than double the number of games on Aug. 18, while one of the three slams failed. Pat Barber and Faye Anderson claimed first easily over Dorothy Bartlett and Enslow in second.

Tuesday's session slowed to 14, but two slams and two grand slams were bid and one each succeeded. Donna Morris and Rusty Farr took first place, a full three boards over Roger Morris and Bartlett in second.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Jon Kempton at 276-2876.
