Go-Getters 4-H

The Go-Getters 4-H Club met Feb. 9 at the Lightner's home, with six members and three adults in attendance. Roll call was answered by stating how club members spent their recent snow day. The previous month's minutes were read by Alexa Lightner and approved. The treasurer's report was given by Abigail Lightner.

Members discussed the preparations for the Honor Flight Chili Luncheon on Feb. 15. Alexa Lightner and Rebecca Wyatt volunteered to do a project talk at the club's next meeting. The meeting concluded with members tie-dying heart shirts for Valentine's Day.

The next meeting will take place Sunday at Pierceville Federated Church.

Senior center pinochle

Donna Preston won high in the two tables of senior center pinochle played Wednesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Bob Baker took second. Third went to Ruth Dunlap.

Senior center double pinochle

Peggy Phipps won high in the two tables of senior center double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Bob Baker. Jeanette Taylor placed third.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club held their regular game Monday, playing a regular 25-board Howell Movement. While 24 games were bid and made, twice as many in suits than no-trump, as well as three slams succeeding, scoring gaps expanded by a large margin this week.

Posting an extraordinary 73 percent game, Jon Craig and Wen Wurst won first with a score of 36.5 points. May Craig and Jon Kempton placed second with a 58 percent game, back 7.5 points but still holding a 4.5-point margin ahead of the next pair.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Kempton at 276-2876.

Bob Ellis won high in the three tables of senior center pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Maybelle Bowen took second place. Third went to Vern Wilson.
