Reynaldo and Ellen Mesa of Garden City announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Mesa, to Erik Base. He is the son of Rodney and Kathie Base of Holcomb.

The bride-to-be graduated from Garden City Community College with an associate of nursing RN degree. She is employed by St. Catherine Hospital.

Her fiance graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He is employed by Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center.

They plan to marry Dec. 1, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City.
