TODAY, FEB. 9
"Sweet Indulgence": Third Annual Spirit of the Plains, CASA benefit auction at the Clarion Inn, 1911 E. Kansas Ave., with the silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. and the live auction starting at 7:45 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and chocolate fountain served throughout the evening. Live entertainment by "Ask Vinnie." Advance tickets are $25, or $30 at the door. Tickets are available at the Clarion Inn. Casual dress, tax-deductible donation.
SUNDAY, FEB. 10
Musical program: The High Plains Country Music Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers monthly program at the Memorial Building on Main Street in Lakin will begin with sign-up at 1 p.m., with the program scheduled to start at 2 p.m. All area musicians are welcome to come and join in and help provide the program for the afternoon. Art exhibit: Kansas State University Faculty and Graduate Student Ceramics Exhibition featuring creations by award-winning KSU art faculty personnel and graduate art students, with viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Feb. 22 in Mercer Gallery in the west wing of the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building at Garden City Community College, 801 Campus Drive. Exhibition includes concluding public ceramics workshop and a reception for visiting artists. Free admission.

Musical variety program: Featuring "Old Time Country Band," 7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. For more information, call 275-5036.
Mardi Gras celebration: Featuring bingo at 4 p.m., followed by pancake games at 5 p.m., and a pancake supper and King's Cake served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Cost for the meal is $6, which includes one free bingo card. The activities are open to the public.
THURSDAY, FEB. 14
American Red Cross Campus Blood Drive: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the back gym of the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex at Garden City Community College, 801 Campus Drive. Walk-in donors welcome but appointments encouraged at 800-733-2767 or 276-9601. Donors should eat regularly, drink plenty of fluids and arrive with photo ID.
Valentine's Day Concert: Featuring romantic musical selections by Garden City Community College Concert Choir and College Singers ensemble, 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building on campus, 801 Campus Drive. Free admission.

Singles dance: Featuring "Moonshiners" from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, U.S. Highway 83 and Mary Street. Sponsored by Garden City Singles, the dance is open to the public. People attending must be age 21 or older.
MONDAY, FEB. 11
Sons of Confederate Veterans: Organizational/recruiting meeting to establish a SCV camp in Dodge City, 7 p.m. in the Board Room on the upper level of the Student Union at Dodge City Community College, 2501 N. 14th Ave. Any male with confirmed Confederate ancestors who served honorably in the War of 1861-1865 is eligible for membership. The SCV is nonracial, nonpolitical and is a hereditary, historical and educational national organization. Genealogy assistance is available. For more information, call Kevin Ivey at 276-9275.
