Tera Rooney of Satanta and Sheldon Barnhardt of Lakin were married Dec. 28, 2012, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

Tera Rooney of Satanta and Sheldon Barnhardt of Lakin were married Dec. 28, 2012, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

The bride's parents are Pat and Jeanette Rooney of Satanta. Her grandparents are Judith Rooney and the late Archie Rooney of Satanta; and the late Jake and Mary Dechant of Garden City.

The groom's parents are Roger and Stacey Barnhardt of Lakin. His grandparents are Gordon and Martha Barnhardt of Bucklin; and Gerald and Patsy Lightcap of Garden City and formerly of Satanta.

The bride's attendant was Bret Rooney, the bride's brother from Satanta. The groom's attendant was Casey Cook of Denver.

Flower girls were Maggie Wankel, the bride's niece from Petersburg, Ill.; and Claire and Tess Barnhardt, the groom's nieces from Lakin. Ringbearers were Cameron and Gavin Wahl, the bride's nephews from Cimarron.

Serving as personal attendants were Alex and Ava Howie of Satanta. Kayla Lee of Garden City was the soloist.

A reception to celebrate the marriage was hosted by the couple's parents at the Deerfield Community Center in Deerfield on Jan. 5, 2013.

The bride graduated from Satanta High School and Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science. She is working toward her doctorate of veterinary medicine and concurrent master's degree in biomedical sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University.

The groom graduated from Lakin High School and attended Butler Community College. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in construction science and management. He is self-employed as a residential contractor in Manhattan.

The couple is at home in Manhattan while the bride finishes school.
