Fiddlers to perform
The Western Plains Chapter of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers will have its monthly program Sunday at Lakin Recreation Center, 702 Campbell St. The center is two blocks west and one-half block south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 50/25 in Lakin.
Sign-up for performers will begin at 1 p.m., with the program beginning at 2 p.m. All area musicians are welcome to perform, and the public is invited at no charge. Donations will be accepted.
People attending may bring finger food to share for refreshments during the break midway through the program. They also are reminded that Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday so they should set their clocks ahead one hour on Saturday evening before going to bed.

Senior Center bridge
Grace Reimer won high in the two tables of Senior Center bridge played Friday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Edna Tilson took second place. Third went to Betty Harsh.
In the two tables played Monday, Helen Lee won high, Donna Morris was second, and third went to Monica Reilley.
FCSA meeting
The Finney County Senior Association supper was Friday at the Senior Center of Finney County, with a covered dish supper served at 6 p.m.
Ann Bitzer conducted the business meeting. Bob Baker gave the information on the tournaments, noting that the pool and domino tournaments were postponed due to a shortage of players.
The center has been getting a new look, with new carpet, new paint, new cabinets and tile and other changes being made.
Those celebrating birthdays were Barbara Decker, Bill Bridges, Darrell Ball and Gladys Ballinger. Door prize winners were Betty Schaffer, Judy Polyefko and Barbara Decker.
Entertainment was provided by the "House Blend Band."
The next meeting is set for April 2.
Senior Center double pinochle
Mary Joseph won high in the two tables of Senior Center double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Leonard Yardley. Donna Preston placed third.
Senior Center pitch
Isabel Finch won high in the three tables of Senior Center pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Donna Preston took second place. Third went to Bob Baker.
Sherlock Strivers 4-H
The Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met Feb. 7 at Garden Bowl, with 12 members, one leader and five parents answering roll call by naming their favorite sport. Two new members were welcomed to the club, as members enjoyed a little bowling fun.
The club practiced its skit, "Clover Feud," for club days. Jenna Jarnigan was chosen to be the hostess and Joseph Jarnigan was selected to be the scorekeeper. The club also collected food for Emmaus House, with Willie Haas in charge of delivering it.
Sherlock Strivers' results for 4-H Days included a top blue for the project talk given by William Haas and a blue for the club skit.
