In the Service: Alexis Law

Army National Guard Pfc. Alexis L. Law has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

She is the daughter of Amy McVey of St. John, and Danny Law of Ulysses.

During the nine weeks of training, Law studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching and rifle marksmanship. Instruction also was given in armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Law is a 2012 graduate of St. John High School.
