The Dollar General store in Scott City will be moving from its current location at 309 Main St. to a new spot at 1105 S. Main St. sometime next year.
Kelsey Layer, spokeswoman for Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based Dollar General, said construction started in July and will be complete sometime toward the beginning of 2014. She could not be more specific.
"Since we are always evaluating the needs of our customers, this was probably the best move to better serve our customers," Layer said.
Average store size is 7,200 total square feet and the new outlet will be the same size. It's also expected to employ the average six to 10 people, Layer said.
According to the city of Scott City, a building permit lists the construction cost at $652,580. The business has been in Scott City since 2000.
