The Finney County, Kansas Historical Society is an organization whose purpose is to collect, preserve and display records and artifacts from Finney County and southwest Kansas. The society also encourages interest in local history and serves as an educational agency for citizens of Finney County in matters of a historical nature.

This Sunday, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., the Society along with the Finney County Women's Chamber will sponsor the Historic Homes Tour. This is an opportunity for residents of Garden City and Finney County to tour historic homes whose families helped to develop the community of Garden City and Finney County. This would be an enjoyable educational experience for our youth as well as the adults to learn who and why they built their home in Finney County.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or at the Finney County Museum, 403 S. Fourth St.

As a resident of Garden City, I strongly encourage you to spend a Sunday afternoon with your family or friends touring The Burnside Home, The Nolan House, The Sherman House and The Erisman Building at 402-404 N. Main. It will be well worth your time and will show your support to the Finney County, Kansas Historical Society and Finney County Women's Chamber.
