The Garden City High School speech and debate team recently joined the ranks of the National Forensic League's elite 200 Club. The honor is given to local chapters that earned 200 or more degrees in the past year.
Students qualify for membership in the National Forensic League after gaining 25 points through contest participation. With continued participation and success, students gain more points, leading to additional degrees within the organization.
The school is now in the top 5 percent of the NFL, the nation's oldest and largest debate and speech honor society.
"Receiving the 200 Club award is a great honor for the hard work of the students," said Russ Tidwell, GCHS debate coach.
