Senior Center pitch

Alva Burch won high in the three tables of pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Bob Baker won second place, and Donna Morris took third.

Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club

The Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met Sunday, Dec. 2, at Hefty Seed Co. in Garden City.

The 23 members and their parents said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Officer reports and the minutes from the October and November meetings were read.

Under old business, members were reminded to get enrolled online for the 2018-19 4-H year by Dec. 15. Members were reminded of the LPQ rules, which have started over. The club discussed monthly community service projects. This months’ community project was to put together lap blankets for hospice patients. Members were also told of the details for the upcoming Christmas parade on Dec. 9.

Under new business, the club discussed its January service project, the Kansas Honor Flight Fundraiser. Leader Delaina Hammond explained ways the club will be involved. In February, it will send valentines to the nursing homes. The club was shown the new club banner members had made. Members decided to have a bowling party at the January club meeting. 4-H Club Days will be held on Feb. 2, at Horace Good Middle School.

The club then celebrated December birthdays.

The meeting was adjourned, and members could choose to help decorate the Christmas float or work on the hospice lap blankets.

The next meeting will be Jan. 6 at Hard Rock Lanes.

 

Phi Sigma Alpha

Phi Sigma Alpha met Nov. 15 at Norma Nolte's home, with Sue Keeny acting as co-hostess.

Six members answered roll call, and Nolte shared devotions about gratitude and facts about the suffragette movement.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Garden City Steakhouse.
