Are you looking for something to do this Saturday night? Are you 21 or older? A Wild Affair at the Zoo is the answer.
Often called the party of the year in Garden City, Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo will be hosting its 13th “A Wild Affair” on Saturday. So, if enjoying good food and drink, live music, and an opportunity to purchase unique auction items while spending time with friends and family is what you like to do, get your tickets now. The southwest zoo gate will open at 6 p.m., and all proceeds from the event go toward zoo improvements.
Tickets are still available at Blue Fox Boutique, Ward’s Garden Center and also at the Finnup Center for Conservation Education (Zoo Administration and Education Building) until 5 p.m. Saturday. Tickets ($50 each) are all-inclusive for the event.
Zoo docents and ambassador animals will welcome partygoers as they progress from the southwest gate to the gazebo area on the West Green. During the event, you’ll be able to sample delicious food from numerous area restauranteurs and caterers, including Pinky’s Grilled Cheestro, Plank’s BBQ, Garden City Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Las Margaritas, Rib Crib, Great Western Dining, Thai Arawan, Webb’s Food Crew and BBQ, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, and Cat’s Cakes.
Assorted adult beverages will be available, including some from Boot Hill Distillery and Dodge City Brewing Company, for your sipping pleasure. Other non-alcoholic beverages, including samples from Roots Juice Company, will also be available for your enjoyment. There will be so many wonderful flavors your taste buds will be dancing.
But your taste buds won’t be the only thing dancing. Mike Benish and Buckner Creek Band will be providing live music and are sure to have everyone tapping their toes. You may even feel the urge to do the Pony, the Grizzly Bear or even the Monkey as the music moves you. Don’t wear yourself out, though. There will be live and silent auctions full of treasures that will require some of your energy, too. You may just find that special something you’ve been searching for.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the gate the evening of the event. Guests must be 21 or older to enter. For more information about the event, contact Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo at (620) 276-6243 or follow Friends on Facebook or Twitter.
The zoo will be closed during regular operating hours on Saturday in order to set up for the festivities. We appreciate your patronage of Lee Richardson Zoo. Only with the support of the regional community and the City of Garden City is Lee Richardson Zoo able to offer you a facility dedicated to offering safe and engaging experiences for guests while focusing on conservation education and support, and providing quality animal care and welfare.
Hope to see you at the wildest party in town on Saturday.
