Keeper of the Flame banquet: The Garden City Fire Department Honor Guard will honor Theresa Maddox of Finney County EMS with this year's Keeper of the Flame award, 6 p.m. at the Clarion Inn, 1911 E. Kansas Ave. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased from any member of the GCFD Honor Guard or by calling the Garden City Central Fire Station at (620) 276-1140. All proceeds will go to the Honor Guard.
Cinco Que Mayo 5K Race: Beginning at 5:05 p.m., with the start/finish line near Las Margaritas Restaurant at 301 N. Main St. Las Margaritas will serve chips, salsa and appetizers at the finish line as well as hosting the after-party. Each participant will receive a tri-blend T-shirt, all finishers receive a custom finisher's medal, and all race registrants will receive a voucher for a free margarita, beer or appetizer item to be redeemed May 5 to 7 at Las Margaritas Restaurant.
