TODAY, MARCH 10

American Legion Harry H. Renick Post No. 9 centennial celebration: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 405 S. Main St. The public is invited to view the original Post Charter, old photographs, war memorabilia, period military uniforms and a DVD outlining the history of the largest veterans’ organization in the country. Recognition of guests and brief remarks will be made at 11 a.m., including a message by Roy Cessna, mayor of Garden City, followed by refreshments.

Antiques Appraisal Fair: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Finney County 4-H Building in Garden City. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call (620) 272-3664.

SUNDAY, MARCH 11

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3124's Chili-Bake Sale Auction: Chili and chili dogs with lots of fixings plus a beverage will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 2603 N. Taylor Ave. The event is open to the public. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children younger than 10, and free for children younger than 3; a second helping will cost $4. An auction of baked goods will begin at 6:30 p.m., with Sean Sheets as the auctioneer. Proceeds will fund the Garden City Firemen CPR classes, the Heart Center at St. Catherine Hospital and the Eagles Max Bauer Heart Fund.

Musical program: High Plains Country Music Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers monthly program at the Memorial Building on Main Street in Lakin. Sign-up will begin at 1 p.m., with the program starting at 2 p.m. All area musicians are welcome to join in. There will be a short break for snacks. Feel free to bring a snack to share. THURSDAY, MARCH 15

Coffee with Caregivers: To share support and experiences, ask questions and be with others who share concerns about caring for loved ones with cancer, 7 to 8 p.m. at Patrick Dugan's Coffee House. RVSP to Becky Alexander at (620) 290-2065.

Kitchen Therapy: Featuring cooking demonstrations and tips on ways to choose the healthiest ingredients, make food more appealing and spark appetites, noon at Heartland Cancer Center, 410 E. Spruce St. The free program is open to the public, but registration is requested by calling Viry Dummermuth at (620) 765-1443.

FRIDAY, MARCH 16

Homing Pigeons display: The Flying For Fun Homing Pigeon Club's display of homing pigeons and a portable pigeon loft, with a club member answering questions and providing information about the sport of flying homing pigeons will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 16 and 17 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 18 inside Orscheln’s Farm and Home, 1309 N. Taylor Ave. Kids will even be able to pet the pigeons.

Musical program: Featuring "Classic 3+1 Piano Man," 7 p.m. at Homestead Assisted Living, 2414 N. Henderson St. Open to the public at no charge.

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, and WIC are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; closed on Friday.
