Inez Newberry to celebrate 90th
Inez Newberry will celebrate her 90th birthday with a come-and-go reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, in Fellowship Hall of the Church of the Nazarene, 2720 N. Campus Drive.
Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration. Your presence is the only gift desired.
Senior center cards
Donna Preston won high in the two tables of double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Bob Baker took second place. Third went to Dawn Thiel.
In the three tables of pitch played Tuesday, Jerry Wallace won high, Coleen Rupp was second, and Carol Klaus and Albert Spor tied for third.

The William Wilson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Nov. 15, with Carley Hazelton presenting the program “Why Women Should Vote.” She also gave the national defense report and read letters from members who sent in their dues.
Scripture and prayer were provided by Lotus Coulter. Dixie Drake gave the president general’s message and the national committee report on “DAR Service For Veterans.”
Volunteer hours were provided. Members discussed the 70th anniversary of the chapter, with an event planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 27, 2018, at the Finney County Historical Museum.
Members provided cookies to the VFW in Garden City on Oct. 23 for the DAR third annual Day of Service.
The next chapter meeting is set for Dec. 16, beginning at 10 a.m. at Ellen Eichhorn’s home.
