Flu season is here. Have you gotten your flu shot yet? If you are wondering if Medicare will pay for your flu shot, the answer is yes, as long as your doctor or other qualified health care provider accepts Medicare assignment.
How Medicare covers vaccines depends on the type of vaccine and the reason it is prescribed. Medicare Part B covers vaccines after you are exposed to a dangerous virus or disease. For example, it will cover tetanus shots if you step on a rusty nail. It also covers three vaccines under the preventive care benefit — flu, pneumonia and hepatitis B. All other vaccines should be covered by your Part D prescription drug plan. Every Part D plan must have all commercially available vaccines on its list of covered drugs (formulary) but costs may vary.

Tuesday: Walking, 9 a.m. at Walmart; gentle exercise, 11 a.m.; pitch, 12:30 p.m.; bridge, 1:15 p.m.; yoga, 6 p.m.
Nov. 8: Line dancing, 8:30 a.m.; Completely Unraveled, 9:30 a.m.; pinochle, 12:30 p.m.; bridge, 1:15 p.m.; EnhanceFitness, 2 p.m.; dance featuring Bob Walter, 7:30 p.m. (recommended donation is $5).
Lunch is served at noon.
Thursday: Beef stew with a biscuit, cauliflower with cheese sauce, pudding.
Friday: Potato-crusted cod filet, au gratin potatoes, asparagus, ice cream.
Monday: Baked ham, cheddar mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, fruit.
Tuesday: Roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, capri vegetables, pudding.
Nov. 8: Seasoned pork loin, scalloped potatoes, green beans, fruit.
