TODAY, JULY 29

Finney County Democrats water balloon fight and potluck dinner: 3 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Park in downtown Garden City. Guest speakers will be James Thompson, candidate for the 4th District Congressional seat; John Gibson, Kansas Democratic Chair; and Sage TeBeest, 1st Congressional District Democratic Chair. MC for the event is Luiz Orosco Jr. The free event is open to the public. Bring a potluck dish to share; hot dogs, beverages and tableware will be provided. If you don't bring a side dish for your family to share, a donation of $5 per person will be asked for the meal. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for relaxing in the park and stay for the free movie screening of "Lilo and Stitch” at dusk.

Silver Screen Saturday Night: Free screening of the movie “Lilo & Stitch” beginning at dusk (9 to 9:30 p.m.) at Stevens Park, 502 N. Main St. Movie-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a snack.

Musical program: Garden City Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers perform at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with a carry-in supper served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by music until 9 p.m. (bring a favorite covered dish for the meal and sign in to take a turn in the rotation of musicians and singers). Admission is free to the public.

Garden City Farmer’s Market: Featuring a variety of home-grown produce, home-crafted items and homemade foods, 7 a.m. to noon each Saturday through Sept. 30 in the parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.

Summer Concert Series: Country music featuring Melissa Dawn, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Stevens Park, 502 N. Main St. Free admission.

Musical variety program: Featuring the music group "Too Many Strings," 7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. Open to the public at no charge.

Health Department and WIC

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, and WIC are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; closed on Friday.
