Who comes to the senior center? Everyone. We are open to everyone age 50 to 100-plus. People who come to the senior center are as diverse as you will find anywhere. All shapes, sizes, hair color, although gray is most common! People who are physically active as well as those who need some assistance. They come for a variety of reasons.
Ever wonder what happens at your local senior center? Check it out: Transportation, Meals on Wheels, noon lunch, legal services, bridge, pinochle, pitch, snooker/pool, dominos, covered dish dinners, craft shop, weekly dance, tournaments, weekly health screenings, computer lab, gentle exercises, walking club, line dancing, bands, singers, dinners, special events, health insurance counseling, bingo and art class.

This year, 2012, is the 40th anniversary of Meals on Wheels in Garden City. Many thanks to the Chamber Ambassador volunteers and Duane Riley who delivered Meals on Wheels last week.

Thursday, the TOPS Club will meet at 9 a.m., followed by art class at 10 a.m. Gentle exercise begins at 11 a.m. The Ambassador Singers practice at 1 p.m. Yoga begins at 6:30 p.m.
Friday begins with line dancing at 8:30 a.m. Craft Shop check-in/out is from 10 a.m. to noon. A nurse from St. Catherine Hospital will be here from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bridge starts at 12:45 p.m.
Saturday has Prairie Land Food pick-up at noon. The pool room is open from 1 to 4 p.m.
Sunday has duplicate bridge at 2 p.m.
Monday begins with walking at 8:30 a.m. The Humdinger Band practices at 12:30 p.m. Double pinochle begins at 12:30 p.m. Duplicate bridge meets at 7 p.m.
Tuesday has gentle exercises at 11 a.m. Pitch starts at 12:30 p.m. Bridge begins at 1:15 p.m. Bingo is at 1:30 p.m.
Aug. 29 has line dancing at 8:30 a.m. Library outreach is at 11 a.m. Pinochle begins at 12:30 p.m. The regular Wednesday night dance begins at 7:30 p.m. Music is provided by the "Oklahoma Cowboy." The recommended donation is $5. Bring finger food for the break.
Lunch is served at noon.
Thursday: Oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cucumber and onion salad, wheat roll, tropical fruit.
Friday: Taco salad with cheese and tomatoes, corn, tortilla chips with salsa, pineapples.
Monday: Smothered pork cutlet, mashed potatoes, California blend vegetables, wheat roll, apricots.
Tuesday: Roast beef, parsley potatoes, steamed cabbage, muffin, peach cobbler.
Aug. 29: Chicken and rice casserole, peas, carrot raisin salad, wheat bread, citrus fruit.
