September is National Senior Center month. Our theme is "Senior Centers Your Place to Connect!" September and October calendars have been mailed. If you would like to receive the bi-monthly newsletter, give me a call at 272-3620.

Come and join us for some of the new activities scheduled for September. We will have coffee each Wednesday morning during September, a domino tournament, exercises, dances, Wii lessons, an ice cream social, bingo, a tailgate party and a speaker on women's suffrage. Don't miss the fun.

Scheduled activities

Thursday: TOPS meet at 8:30 a.m. The art class meets at 10 a.m. A domino tournament starts at 1 p.m. The fee is $1 per player. The Ambassador Singers practice at 1 p.m. The volunteer receptionists will meet at 1:15 p.m.

Friday: Line dancing starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by STEPS at 10 a.m. A nurse is available from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bridge begins at 12:45 p.m. Rook starts at 1:30 p.m. The first Friday of each month is the Finney County Senior Citizens Association covered dish dinner. Join us for dinner and entertainment. Membership to the association is $3 per year. Its annual fundraiser, the fall bazaar, is scheduled for Oct. 16.

Saturday: The pool room is open in the afternoon. The building is rented in the evening.

Monday: The Senior Center and Finney County Transit (FIT) will be closed due to the Labor Day holiday.

Tuesday: A new class, "Gentle Exercises," begins. Join Hope and work out slowly and gently to a videotape. Pitch is played at 12:45 p.m. Bridge starts at 1:15 p.m.

Sept. 8: Coffee and biscuits will be served at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning coffee will be offered all through September. Line dancing starts at 8:30 a.m. Meals on Wheels Committee meets at 9 a.m. STEPS begin at 10 a.m. Pinochle starts at 12:45 p.m. Completely Unraveled meets at 1 p.m. Open pool begins at 7 p.m., with anyone age 40 and older welcome to play in our non-smoking facility. Bring a friend and join the fun. The weekly dance begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature "The Calhouns." The recommended donation is $4 per person. Bring finger food for the break.

Lunch menus

Lunch is served at noon.

Thursday: Taco salad, Mexi-corn, tortilla chips, sherbet.

Friday: Pepper steak with gravy, steamed rice, diced tomatoes, wheat bread, applesauce.

Monday: Closed for the holiday.

Tuesday: Ham and beans, mashed potatoes, cauliflower with cheese sauce, corn bread, blueberry crisp.
