The Garden City High School girls golf team finished third on Wednesday at the Wichita North Invitational played at Sim Park Golf Course.
The Lady Buffs, with Abbi Shaddix leading the way with a 77, finished with a 360 total, well back of champion Wichita Kapaun-Mt. Carmel (Class 5A), which blistered the course at 321, while another 5A school, Bishop Carroll, took second at 353.
Shaddix' 77 was good for a fourth-place finish in the medalist race, while Danielle Gaspar placed ninth with an 87 and Lindsay Bradstreet 12th with a 92.
"Both Danielle and Lindsay had their personal best tournament rounds today, so we're very encouraged with that," said GCHS coach Melinda Base.
Megan Steward and Kendra Martin each shot 104, while Hannah Leiker followed with a 107.
The Lady Buffs continue their central Kansas swing at 1 p.m. today, when they compete in the Hutchinson Invitational at Carey Park Golf Course.
