Deadline approaches for PSAT test
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered to interested college-bound junior students at 8 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Clarion Inn, 1911 E. Kansas Ave. Students will need to arrive at 7:45 a.m.
No transportation will be provided to the testing site, however, school transportation will be provided back to school if requested. If students arrive late, they will not be allowed to take the test. The fee for taking the test is $16, payable when the student registers. The deadline for registration is Oct. 11.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a shortened version of the Scholastic Aptitude Test. It is made up of actual SAT questions, so taking the PSAT/NMSQT gives students an accurate picture of what taking the SAT will be like. It also is the first step students take to begin the qualifying process for the National Merit Scholarship Program, National Hispanic Scholarship Program and other scholarship programs. For more information about the PSAT, call Jennifer Meng at 805-5427.
