South Gray swept the Southern Plains Iroquois league tournaments Monday night in Dodge City as the Rebel boys avenged an early-season loss to Spearville with an 82-65 triumph, while the unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Lady Rebels won a high-scoring battle, also against Spearville, 81-67.

The Rebel boys (13-1) opened with a 24-18 lead after one quarter and it was 41-35 at halftime. A 20-13 scoring advantage in the third period gave the Rebles a 61-48 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Chase Clancy scored 34 points to pace the Rebels, including hitting three 3-pointers and making 9-of-12 free throws. The Rebels had six 3-pointers in the game. Bligh Schulte added 15 points and Austin Love 10 for the champions. Carson Konrade paced the Lancers with 26 points and Mitchell Ackerman added 16.

Syracuse 66, Rolla 45

At Syracuse, the Bulldogs overcame a sluggish start to take down Rolla Monday night in a non-league game.

Rolla led 13-12 after one quarter but then Syracuse used a 22-10 second quarter advantage to take a 34-23 lead at halftime. It was 46-27 after three quarters and the Bulldogs cruised in with their ninth victory in 12 games.

Senior forward Tate Housholder scored a game-high 22 points to pace Syracuse while Andrew Brown added 12 for the winners. Kyle Hall had 20 for the Pirates.

South Gray 81, Spearville 67

The unbeaten Lady Rebels (14-0) received one of their sternest tests of the season from the Lady Lancers.

South Gray jumped out to a 24-17 lead after one quarter and led 34-28 at halftime. Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter to make it 51-45 going into the final eight minutes. The fourth quarter was an offensive show as South Gray erupted for 30 points to 22 for Spearville for the final 14-point margin.

Senior Brigit Hesser tallied 30 points to pace the Lady Rebels as she had four 3-pointers and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line. Mikayla Skidmore and Kayla Thomas provided additional scoring support with 20 and 15 points, respectively.

Becca Hornung-Heeke paced Spearville with 25 points, Elle Stein added 19 and Megan Stein chipped in with 10.

Syracuse 70, Rolla 38

At Syracuse, senior Kylee Hedberg scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to pace the Lady Bulldogs to a convincing 70-38 victory over the Lady Pirates in non-league action Monday night.

Syracuse (6-6) jumped out to a 15-9 lead after one quarter and extended it to 38-21 at halftime. It was 52-29 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs also received 17 points from senior guard Kamie Rash and 14 from senior Shanelle Sharp as they put up a season-high point total. Nine players scored for the Lady Bulldogs.

At Deerfield, freshman Tara Whipple scored 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to their Santa Fe Trail League victory over the Lady Spartans.

Ingalls opened up with a 12-3 first quarter lead and then padded the advantage to 29-13 at halftime. Deerfield made a run in the third quarter by outscoring Ingalls 17-9, making it 38-30 heading into the final quarter.

Ingalls then outscored Deerfield 8-5 in the last eight minutes.

Dulce Vides scored 15 points to lead the Lady Spartans.
