The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will host a free entrance day and open house at all state parks on Saturday.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events at most parks. Meade State Park will offer office tours all day, sell permits and outdoor store items, take reservations and answer questions. The park will have a drawing for one hoodie, two youth T-shirts and two adult T-shirts. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In an effort to help raise money for the OK Kids Day event, the park will have a Trout Derby. Registration is to begin at 7 a.m. at the park office located on the south side of the lake. The Derby will run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday only. The cost of registration is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Prize categories for the adult division are: Biggest Fish and Heaviest Stringer. Participants can enter only one category in the adult division. Prize categories for the kid's division are: biggest fish and smallest fish.
You must be registered for the derby to be eligible for the prizes and have a valid fishing license and trout permit.
The OK Kids Day committee members will be selling hot dogs, chips and water. All proceeds will benefit the OK Kids Day event.
