The circuit includes Paramount Advantage exercise machines, resistance training, electronic treadmills and exercise bikes. Overview: The YMCA provides members with a fitness center that includes among other things, free weights, treadmills, bikes, stair steppers and a rowing machine. Each new member is given a 12-week fitness orientation, which includes access to all facilities and a personal trainer. For the younger crowd, the YMCA offers a youth fitness center with bicycles, weights, treadmills and a rock climbing wall. The YMCA has a six-lane, 25-yard pool that is also home to the Garden City High School girls swimming team. A new addition was completed in 2010 with expansions totaling more than $2 million developing an additional 20,771 square-feet of facility space. Phase I monumental additions included a family-friendly pool complete with a slide and a spray fountain for kids, and has been open since late March of 2010; early childhood center, child watch room, new entry, youth multipurpose room, expanded cardio fitness area, expanded strength training area, expanded parking, improved men's locker rooms, improved family locker room, and improved administrative offices also were included in the expansion.

Overview: The Garden City Recreation Commission offers a full gymnasium complete with 12 weight stations, six treadmills, seven cross trainers and six bicycles. The gym's Expresso Fitness Bikes offer riders a bit of interactivity by connecting to the Internet and allowing users to race against other competitors around the nation. In 2010, the GCRC opened its expanded free weight room (10 stations) in a previous storage unit and each station has safety bars to prevent bars from slipping and falling on the individual using the weights. Personal training also is available at $20 an hour, with discounts for multiple sessions.

Overview: The Holcomb Recreation Commission offers members a 24-hour fitness center complete with weight stations, treadmills, cross trainers, bicycles, dumb bells and stability bars. Also provided for members is a television/stereo entertainment system along with personal training and fitness assessments. Recent additions over the past year include a Jones Machine, Expresso Bikes, Adaptive Motion Trainer and a remodeled back room that can be used for meetings and gatherings.

Mary St. Hours: 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to noon Saturday Contact: 276-6300 Monthly cost: $34 adults (one-year contract) Overview: Men's Fitness offers an intense circuit training program complete with hydraulic weight machines and six punching bags. The gym also includes one treadmill and two exercise bikes. Project Fitness Address: 2514 N. Johns Hours: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday; Closed Sunday. Contact: 271-0935 Monthly cost: $40 basic gym membership; $100 month, 12 class package; $110 month, unlimited classes. Overview: Offers crossfit training (intense workouts) and focuses on everything; regular weights.
