A two-run rally in the eighth and ninth innings came up just short for the Garden City Wind Monday night at Clint Lightner Stadium in a 3-2 setback to the White Sands, N.M., Pupfish in Pecos League action.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Wind, and the teams will resume their series at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, also at Lightner.

The Pupfish (6-21) had scored a single run in the first and tacked on two more in the fourth, and that proved to be the difference.

The Wind (10-15) scored their final run on a sacrifice fly by Jean Carlos Peralta.
