KCIA recognizes GC seed grower

The Kansas Crop Improvement Association has recognized Dan Good, Drussel Seed Co., Garden City, as a 2013 Premier Seed Grower.

Since inception, KCIA has presented 160 Premier Seed Grower awards. To qualify, members must be an experienced certified seed producer, their business must have certified seed as a major component, they must consciousness of quality in all practices and must be involved in public service.

Good has a degree in biology/chemistry from Ottawa University, Ottawa, but grew up helping his dad on a cow/calf operation in Garnett. In the 1970s, he moved to Garden City, working for seed companies such as Garst Seed Co. before going to work for Drussel Seed and Supply as production manager.

Ortiz joins The Architect

Manuel Ortiz has joined The Architect as a project designer. He joins Bruce Glass, AIA, owner of The Architect, 305 N. Main St., Garden City.

Prior to joining The Architect, he worked for nearly 10 years at Building Solutions, LLC in Dodge City as a project design coordinator/AutoCAD technician and project manager. Before that, he was a civil draftsman and CAD operator with Taylor and Associates in Garden City.

Ortiz is a 1997 graduate of Deerfield High School and a 1999 graduate of Garden City Community College, where he earned an associates in pre-architecture. He obtained an autoCAD degree from Vaterott College in 2003.
