Healy — Kyla Sharp

Published 5/23/2009 in Youth In Excellence

Kyla Sharp would like to tell her fellow senior classmates at Healy High School to remember the people they are today and to remember the people who helped them along the way.

"The past will shape your future," Sharp said in a questionnaire provided to The Telegram.

Sharp's future includes attending Fort Hays State University in the fall. There, she will major in graphic design. She said she likes the major because she enjoys working on computers and designing graphics.

Graphic design is also a reason Sharp listed yearbook as her favorite class at Healy High School.

"I enjoy designing the pages," Sharp said.

She has been in Healy schools since kindergarten. Her high school honors include: Boards Honor Roll, National Honor Society Vice President, Western Kansas Liberty League All-Volleyball academic team, All-League volleyball, All-League basketball and Western Kansas Liberty League All-Star volleyball team.

Sharp also lettered in volleyball and basketball during her high school tenure. She also received exemplary ratings in reading in state assessments.

Her activities at Healy High School included science fair, yearbook, speech and drama, school plays, volleyball, basketball, football homecoming queen, newsletter editor, United Methodist Youth Group, cheerleading, dance, and class president.

In her spare time away from school, she can be found playing sports, spending time with her family and being with her friends.

"Your class can become your best friends and be there for you through everything," Sharp said.

Her favorite high school memory is winning homecoming queen during football season. Sharp said another favorite memory is playing basketball with her teammates.

If Sharp could give one piece of advice to incoming freshmen students, it would be this: "Stay true to yourself. High school only lasts four years and they go by very quickly."

Sharp said she wants to be remembered as a fun, optimistic person and a group leader.
