Brodrick Smith is officially a Wildcat.
The former Garden City High School All-State quarterback signed with Kansas State University on Wednesday as one of 10 Kansas players -- including Dodge City defensive lineman Laton Dowling, who was third in the Western Athletic Conference in tackles with 85 last year.
Smith, who has been attending K-State since the fall semester, is one of three wide receivers that signed with the Wildcats on Wednesday and will be a red-shirt sophomore next season.
The former Telegram All-Area quarterback played his freshman season at the University of Minnesota before transferring to Kansas State at the beginning of this school year. While at Minnesota, Smith (6-3, 205) played in 12 games, including two starts as a wide receiver, and recorded five catches for 50 yards and one touchdown.
