On the heels of a fourth-place finish in the 2008 NJCAA National Soccer Championships, the Garden City Community College Broncbusters men's team finds itself in the same spot in the 2009 preseason poll released this week.

"We're excited but we've got to go out and earn it," Steve Gorton, GCCC men's coach, said of the early ranking. "I'm not really surprised we're there with the number of starters we have back and I guess I thought we might be even higher, but I'm not disappointed."

Fall practice for the Busters soccer team begins August 13 and Gorton's squad opens the new season on August 28-29 at the Barton County Tournament in Great Bend when they face Western Nebraska and Dakota Technical of Minnesota.

Barton County was the only other Kansas team to be ranked.
