Three former Garden City Community College football players were honored by scouting service Rivals.com on Tuesday by being named to the Rivals.com All-JC Transfer Team. Oklahoma offensive tackle Phil Loadholt, Kansas State defensive back Justin McKinney, and Iowa State linebacker Alvin Bowen were the three former Broncbusters named to the squad. Coffeyville put three players on the team, also. Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas, Kansas State punt returner Deon Murphy, and Oklahoma offensive lineman Brandon White were the Red Ravens picked. This season, Loadholt helped pave the way for an offense that averages more than 454 yards per game and earned a trip to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, where the Sooners will take on West Virginia. McKinney led the Wildcats with 74 tackles to go with his three interceptions, nine pass breakups, one forced fumble and a blocked kick. Bowen led the Big 12 in forced fumbles with five. He also had 99 tackles and 12 1/2 tackles for loss. Loadholt, Bowen, and McKinney were all named to the second team All-Big 12 last month. The early signing period for junior college players begins Dec. 19.
