went with some power. Diehl hit a grand slam over the center field fence. Three batters later, Kayla Jeanjaquet ripped a three-run home run.

"I've been on both ends of that. It's no fun being on either end," Terpstra said of the first- inning run barrage. "You want them to make some plays. You don't want to put anybody through that."

Garden City (14-7, 3-3) added to its lead in the second on a Joni Stegman two-run home run.

By the time the lead grew to 20-3 in the fourth inning, the Busters had 19 hits. Seven of the Busters had multiple hits. Diehl, Stegman and Jeanjaquet combined for 13 RBIs.

Stegman (9-2) picked up the win as she worked just three innings, not allowing a hit or run. Bahr relieved Stegman to start the fourth and gave up all three Cloud County runs in her first appearance on the mound.

In game 2, the Busters again started strong on the offensive side. But unlike the first game, Garden City started in a deficit as Ciara Swindell hit a solo home run as the Thunderbirds' lead-off. The Busters responded with four runs in the bottom half of the first. Megan Hamilton tripled in one run, then a Stegman single scored two runs and LePrey hit an RBI double, scoring the fourth run. Her double was one of four she hit in the game. Garden City scored five runs in the second inning, then four in the third.

After an Elisha Walcott solo home run in the fourth, the Busters put the final touches to the score with three runs.

Garden City finished with 16 hits in the game, and Cloud committed six errors. Stegman and LePrey paced the Busters with four hits apiece. Stegman had seven RBIs.
