The Garden City Community College men's soccer team will give back to moms this weekend.

Starting this evening, the Broncbusters will host the first Soccer Mom Camp and tournament at Memorial Stadium. Tonight there will be a clinic for mothers starting at 8 p.m. at the stadium. On Saturday, at 11 a.m., the Busters will play Blue River Community College from Kansas City, Mo., and on Sunday will meet Lincoln (Ill.) College at 9 a.m. Jayhawk Conference rival Barton County will be matched up with Lincoln at 1 p.m. Saturday and Blue River on Sunday at 11 a.m. The clinic tonight will enable mothers a chance to be out on the field and receive a tutorial on the game from coaches and players. Games will also be involved in the activities.

"This is basically for parents of kids who play soccer or anybody who just wants to be involved and be active and show their support," GCCC head coach Stephen Gorton said. "We want to get people out there."

The weekend events are all connected within a program to help fight breast cancer. The Busters will wear pink jerseys in both games this weekend. Joma, the company that does the GCCC soccer uniforms, sponsored the pink jerseys for the tournament. Part of the weekend will be about giving the players information and teaching them about breast cancer as the team will hear from two guest speakers.

"They're excited to wear the pink jerseys," Gorton said of his team. "I don't think they understand how much it can affect them as guys, too, with their moms, sisters, girlfriends or wives in the future -- how much it can affect their lives as far as breast cancer and that things like that."

The tournament gives the Busters their first taste of action on their home turf as they have posted a 2-0 record on the road.
