Garden City Community College freshman linebacker Aaron Racette was named the Jayhawk Conference Defensive Player of the week after the Broncbusters 23-15 win at Independence on Saturday. Racette shares the honor with Butler's Jonathan Massoquoi.
Racette, who started spot at linebacker for the first time made five unassisted tackle performance against the Pirates. He finished with three tackles for loss, two sacks and one quarterback hurry. Racette is the second Buster to earn a conference honor this season. Quarterback Eugene Smith was named the Offensive Player of the Week after the second game of the season against Butler.
GCCC loses at Pratt
The Lady Broncbusters volleyball team continued their struggles Wednesday. Garden City traveled to Pratt and was swept 25-15, 25, 25-10.
Garden City (6-16, 1-5) will be at Barton County on Saturday at noon.
