GCCC men's soccer downs Dodge

It didn't take the Garden City Community College men's soccer team long Wednesday to establish dominance over Dodge City in a 6-2 win.

The Broncbusters scored their first goal in the game's opening minute and rode that momentum to two more scores in the half. GCCC (3-0, 1-0) tacked on three more goals in the second half in the Jayhawk Conference game.

Third-year head coach Stephen Gorton used all 25 players of his GCCC roster in the game.

"Dodge is an improved team from a year ago," Gorton said. "We were able to jump on them early, which allowed me to substitute freely and allow some newcomers to get playing time in the a Jayhawk match-up. Allowing my full team to get minutes early in the season can only pay dividends later on."

GCCC captain sophomore forward Federico Agreda scored two goal and added an assist to his impressive performance. Sophomore midfielder Tareq Al-Lugman, who sat out all of last season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury added two assists for the Busters.

GCCC outshot Dodge City on its home field 22-4.

The Busters will have a week-in-a-half game rest as they will not play until their home tournament Sept. 12 at Memorial Stadium against North Idaho at 7 p.m. The tournament will end Sept. 13 when the Busters play Laramie (Wyo.) County at 3 p.m.
