Garden City Community College split a doubleheader with Seward County on Sunday in Liberal, falling to the Saints in the first game 5-1, then rebounded to win the second game 4-1.

The Broncbusters (19-19, 10-12) fell behind early in the first game after allowing four runs and three straight hits to open the game. The four run, five hit bottom of the first gave the Saints the only runs they would need to seal the game, adding one more in the fifth on a one-run home run by Michael Drzazga for insurance.

Garden City scored its only run in the top of the third off a one out RBI single by Ben Warner.

In the second game, the Broncbusters jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a two-RBI double by second baseman Christian Lucero in the top of the second that scored Marcus Palimenio and Dan Oracion. Garden City added to the lead in the fifth, scoring a one-run single by Nate Reddig and a sacrifice fly by Mike Sutton.

Bryce Butt picked up the win for Garden City in the second game, while Rex Ingham received the loss in the first.

The Busters and Saints were to have finished their series today at Liberal. The first game was to start at 4 p.m.
