NJCAA honors Kenney

Garden City Community College special teams phenom Cameron Kenney was rewarded for his play against Highland on Saturday in a big way as he was named the NJCAA special teams player of week.
Against Highland, Kenney, a wide receiver/punter/kicker/returner caught four passes for 50 yards, but had an even bigger day on special teams. He executed a fake punt and ran for 33 yards and a first down.
As punt returner, Kenney returned at punt 51 yards for a touchdown. Also the Busters kicker, he converted all four PAT attempts, and made field goals of 32 and 33 yards, and he ran in a two-point conversion. Kenney tallied 134 all-purpose yards, and scored 18 of Garden City's 46 points.
Kenney, a freshman from Dacula, Ga., leads Garden City in all-purpose yards and is the top punter in the Jayhawk Conference, averaging 46.6 yards per punt.
The Busters are 4-1 overall and 3-1 in Jayhawk Conference play, and take on Independence Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Quarterback Houston Erbstoesser of No. 1 Snow College was the NJCAA offensive player of the week.
Central Lakes (Minn.) College cornerback Landrian Gordon was the defensive player of the week.
