They were just one victory away from making the Class 1A state tournament a year ago and now the senior-laden Moscow Wildcats are hoping to make the next step as the season tips off Friday night.

Brett Harp, in his seventh year at Moscow and 14th overall, welcomes back Taylor Roop, a 6-2 senior forward, and Jace Moore, a 5-11 guard/forward, as two of his anchors that will try to improve on last year's four losses. One of them being to Greensburg in the finals of the 1A sub-state tournament.

In addition to the two leaders, Harp will be looking for key roles from 6-0 senior Cory McCurry, 6-2 senior Thaine Whitham, 5-10 senior Omar Miramontes, 5-10 senior Miguel Araiza, 5-8 senior Anthony Hernandez and 6-2 senior Irvine Manriquez. Also expected to contribute to the Wildcat cause is 6-0 junior Ismael Flores.

Lady Wildcats look to rebound from 3-18

The Lady Wildcats of Moscow struggled through a 3-18 record a year ago and it will be a quartet of sophomores that will provide the nucleus for this year's team.

Mackenzie Dobie is the lone returning starter from a year ago while Emily White, Mikala Anton and Ashley Dahl are back after earning letters for the Lady 'Cats.
