Reunion planning under way
The Garden City High School class of 1973 will be holding its 35th class reunion on Aug. 2 at the Knights of Columbus hall.
Organizers are trying to compile a list of classmates' contact information, and they ask anyone from the class to contact Whitney Williams Baker at (620) 805-6360 or gcclassof73@yahoo.com.
Class members are also welcome to attend the next meeting of the reunion committee, at 5 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus.
Arbor Day ceremony set for Friday
The city of Garden City is hosting its 31st annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony Friday.
The ceremony is 4 p.m. Friday at Finnup Park, with participants meeting in the Finnup Center for Conservation Education before the ceremony. Anyone is welcome to attend the free event.
The ceremony's part of the city's obligations for being an Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA. Three fifth-grade students will be recognized at the ceremony as winners of the Arbor Day poster contest. They'll receive Chamber Bucks and a proclamation from Mayor David Crase.

Garden City Jamboree Saturday
The Garden City Jamboree will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with a covered dish supper at 6:30 p.m.
All musicians are welcome.

Lunch and Learn set for May 1 at library
The Sandsage Bison Range and Wildlife Area will be the focus of the Lunch and Learn program scheduled from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. May 1 at the Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut St.
Brenda Myers, tour director with the Friends of the Sandsage Bison Range, will discuss the range's oldest publically-owned buffalo herd in Kansas, smaller animals and birds that inhabit the area, and native prairie grasses and wildflowers flourishing in the area.
Participants are invited to bring a lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.
