Kenny and Terry DeDonder of Reading and Rusty and Mitzi Garrison, former Holcomb residents, announce the engagement of their children, Karen Louise DeDonder and James Wesley Garrison. He is the grandson of Jim and Charlene Garrison of Johnson City.

The bride-to-be graduated from Lebo High School in 2001, earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training at Washburn University and plans to complete her master's degree in sports administration from the University of Nebraska- Kearney in May.

Her fiancé graduated from Holcomb High School in 1999, Garden City Community College in 2001, Washburn University with a degree in criminal justice in 2004 and Washburn University Law School in December 2007 with a juris doctorate. He is employed by Riley County as an assistant county attorney.

The couple plans to say their vows at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia on June 21, 2008, and then will reside in Manhattan.
