Jim and Barbara Jarboe of Lakin announce the engagement of their daughter, Janelle Renae Jarboe, to Matthew Eric Mercer, the son of Dee Mercer Hilbish of Emporia.

Grandparents of the bride-to-be are Louella Jarboe-Robins and Bert Robins of Deerfield; and the late James Jarboe Sr., and the late Wanda and Duane Weatherred of Deerfield.

The bride-to-be graduated from Lakin High School and Kansas Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in computer information systems. She is a technology trainer/assistant technology consultant at Southwest Kansas Library System, Dodge City.

Her fiancé graduated from Northern Heights High School, from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in agriculture and from University of Phoenix with a master's degree in management. He is a regional coordinator with the Kansas Division of Emergency Management stationed in Dodge City.

They plan to marry Nov. 29, 2008, in a 5 p.m. ceremony at the United Methodist Church, Lakin.
