A tip from the pro:

Hole 12, 198 yards, Par 3.

This hole can play anywhere from 170 yards to well over 200 yards and with our traditional south wind accuracy is a premium. The easiest pin location is middle right as the large bunker in front of the green is not in play. The green slopes severely from the back left to the front right. A front left hole location is the toughest to hit to. A miss left of the green will result in a sure bogey with a tough recovery shot facing you with a green that slopes away and from deep grass.

A tip from the pro:

Hole 15, Middle Tee-497 yards, Back Tee-564 yards, Par 5.

The tee shot is most important as it sets up to play the shot toward the native grass, which guards the fairway on both sides. Depending on the wind, the tee shot may call for a driver or a 3-wood to place the shot in the fairway. The tee shot should leave the pro or low handicap golfer with a risk/reward second shot of about 220 to 230 yards out.

Aggressive players will go for the green wanting to miss the green long and right. Conservative players will lay up with a 6 or 7-iron to about 100 to 120 yards. The layup is just as demanding as the tee shot where the native rough is lined on both sides of the hole. Hitting to the green is no easy shot. A bunker guards the front left side of this green with sandhill plum thickets also on the left side of the green. This green has a severe slope from back to front with three levels. It puts a premium on placement to have a putt from the proper level. A putt from back to front can go off the front of the green and roll 10 to 20 yards below the green. An approach shot at the front edge of the green will also likely roll back down the slope. In the 1980s, future PGA Tour winner Tom Pernice was leading the tournament when he came to the 15th, but knocked a ball out of bounds up in the sand dunes, made triple bogey eight and effectively took himself out of contention for the tournament.
