Garhart: Humane Society pumped up about Pet Expo
By The Telegram
In this week's podcast, Nancy Garhart from the Finney County Humane Society, talks about this Saturday's Paws for a Cause Pet Expo and Dog Jog at the West Pavilion of the Finney County Fairgrounds. The Pet Expo runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Dog Jog starting at 10 a.m.
The event features educational and vendor booths, Flyball dog races, dog obedience and agility demonstrations, favorite cat photo contest, dog costume contest, a silent auction, concessions and more. Admission is free.
Proceeds from sponsors, booths and other fundraising at this year's event will help pay for medical treatment for sick and injured shelter animals, and transportation costs involved in transferring animals to rescue organizations and no-kill shelters that extend the lives of adoptable animals.
The Garden City Animal Shelter is nearly completed, with a move-in date likely sometime before the end of the year. It will offer more room for the animals at the corner of Fleming Street and Terminal Avenue south of Fulton Street.
